Rites of Passage - Indigo Girls

This was my mother's album. Of course, just like a few of the other albums on this list, we listened to it quite frequently. But one of the identifying qualities of this record is that my Mom would consistently sing these songs either acapella or with a guitar. So it was more than just the recording. It was also that the music was pervasive in my life in every way.


Other than the personal angle, Indigo Girls and this album in particular are outstanding singer-songwriters. The tunes, the lyrics, the vocals, the simplicity of it all...


If there is one album out of these 5 that I would give a 10/10, it would probably be this one.

Grand. Poetic. Stylish.
