We're winning with lyrics here. We're winning with beats and music here. This album blooms pretty well under the pressure of criticism. I think WESTSIDE BOOGIE has a knack for diversifying his work throughout an album. Good for him on that one, because it isn't irregular for a rapper to release something more stagnant and less inspired. Eminem is, as much as I hate to admit it, one of those people. He has made the same type of music for years now, and it has become a tad stale.
What I'm saying is, well done on this one.
I do have a mini problem with the originality of the first four songs though. Feeling a little too close to Joyner Lucas for me. It's the idea of putting a spoken-word type flow over a beat. It's great don't get me wrong, but maybe not for four songs in a row and maybe not at the direct beginning of the album.
Other than that, not a whole lot to complain about here. The fast songs go demon, the slow songs go mega sad, and that's what we want.
Direct. Honest. Maniacal. This is a stiff album with a heavy sound. Well played.
Sturdy 7.5
